Start by choosing a quality, well-cut diamond for your center stone. Then choose a setting style that will maximize the diamond’s light and shine, while taking your lifestyle and personal style into account, advises Lindsay Reinsmith, co-founder of Ada Diamonds. (For example, if you have a job where you are frequently using your hands, you may want to avoid a ring with a high setting.) Also consider the integrity of the design—while super-thin bands on wedding ring sets are popular right now, they won’t hold up as well over time as thicker bands will.
