Despite their warming abilities, flannel sheets aren’t exactly hot these days—but this new line could change that.

When it comes to warm sheets, flannel sheets may have all others beat: They're thick. They feel hefty and durable. Their warming abilities are renowned. People who sweat when they sleep will rightfully disagree, but those who crawl into bed shivering every night in the fall and winter—or who live in a chilly climate—could probably use a set of super warm sheets.

Why, then, is it so hard to figure out where to buy flannel sheets that are warm but also look good? There are so many flashy, new, direct-to-consumer bedding companies selling luxe sheets out there—but almost none offer flannel sheets.

Fortunately for cold sleepers everywhere, Riley is breaking that mold. This bedding and home brand recently launched a new line of flannel sheets made of 100 percent premium combed cotton and crafted in Portugal.

Riley Home Sheets

To buy: from $199; rileyhome.com.

The sheets feel blissfully soft, and I imagine curling up in between one of these flannel flat sheets and a fitted sheet feels a little like being hugged by a cotton teddy bear. While I freely admit I’ll never be able to completely give up my favorite PeachSkin sheets, the thought of snuggling up in sheets designed to be as warm and cozy as possible does sound pretty nice, especially as temperatures drop.

They’re not just warm and comfortable sheets, though: These flannel sheets are reversible, with different colored sides on each item in the set. The color families are navy and gray; oatmeal and cream; and dark and light grey. With dark sides and light sides on each, they offer a little more aesthetic flexibility than standard sheets might, plus a sophisticated look that helps the sheets feel mature.

Riley’s flannel sheets are available in full, queen, and king sizes, and prices start at $199 for a set. (The company always offers free shipping and returns.)
